Don’t worry be happy!

Following up on the first hour of today’s morning show (Friday 9/30), I want to try to lift some of the gloom that may have descended here. First, listeners should know how grateful and proud of all of you I am and how much you are doing to remake our world into a better place. You have made a tiny independent small-market liberal AM radio station in a recession a success and that’s awesome. And, for those concerned about the relative paucity of “fivefortyfriend”s”, I note the following:

1) This group generates an extraordinary number of intelligent and thought-provoking posts every day. In fact, groups with 100X as many listeners can’t claim nearly as much intellectual ferment. 2) While there’s some negativity, there’s also much love and concern here. 3) The group’s small size is largely a function of two things: A) it’s still relatively new but it’s growing and B) this group is nearly impossible to find because of the ill-considered (there I said it) name. If KRXA were in the name, there’d be many more members I believe.

I hope to see all of you at LaSala’s and then Peter J. Ferrante Park Saturday 10/1 at 11:30am.

Marie Taney changed the name of the group “Five Forty Friend” to “KRXA Five Forty Friend”.

Marie- How about adding a bit of camaraderie to the name of the group by changing the word “friend” to “friends”. The singular “friend” suggests a faceless entity that befriends KRXA; it does not champion the idea that the group consists of “friends” that support the station.

“KRXA 540 Friends” would be an even better name because it is easier to remember & type. Better still, let’s move the group off Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook.
