The Morning Show Sep 26 – 30

“Make new friends but keep the old” is an old song that finds fresh meaning this week as new and old friends visit us on the KRXA Morning Show.

Before presenting the lineup, I wanted to let you know that for the first time in a long while, we now have several hours open for weekend shows.  Solarzar and Kyralani are cutting back Good Vibrations Radio to two hours starting 10/1.  The show will now air Saturday nights from 7-9pm.  We may also be able to shift some of our other weekend programs around.

I have heard grumbling from some of you that the weekend lineup is too replete with infomercials.  Here’s an opportunity to remedy that problem.  As always, we are also looking for new commercials advertisers.  So, if you’d like to try your shot at hosting on KRXA or if you own, manage, or simply know of a business that would benefit from reaching our incredibly supportive listener base, please contact me (Hal) by emailing me at [email protected] or call the station at (831) 394-5792.

On Friday, I remarked to Coach that one of the things I enjoyed about doing shows with him was our focus on more serious topics.  I could let go of some of the frivolity that tends to dominate our discussions Monday through Thursday.  The frivolous topics return on Monday.

Here’s what’s on tap:

———-

Monday -

8 – Ecologist Peter Sale, author of Our Dying Planet, contributes to our continuing discussion of man’s “victorious” war over environment.

8:35  – Our 27th District Assembly member Bill Monning discusses the state of the State of California.

9 – Penologist Ernie Drucker’s book A Plague of Prisons
decries America’s reliance on mass incarceration as destructive, destabilizing, and crime-inducing.

9:30 – Lori Taylor from KRXA’s longest-running sponsor Grove Market
makes our mouths water describing the great lunch specials available this week on Forest Avenue in P.G.

Tuesday -

8 – KGO host, erstwhile KRXA afternoon drivetime anchor, podcaster, etc. Peter B. Collins returns to AM 540 to share his take on the current political scene and update us on his doings.  For more on Peter, browse to www.peterbcollins.com.

9 – Marina City Councilman Frank O’Connell gives us the scoop on his hometown.

9:25 – Arlen Grossman’s Quotation Quotient is your opportunity to win a great prize.  Don’t miss Arlen’s column in the Leisure Section of every Sunday’s Monterey Herald.

9:45 – Juan Escamilla from Wilson’s Tire and Service joins us for Car Talk.  Call Juan at (831) 476-0370.

Wednesday -

8 – Articleman from www.dagblog.com helps us make sense of the bewildering political landscape.

9:45 – Eric Peterson from the Monterey County Green Party discusses all things Green.

Thursday -

9 – The High School Game of the Week.

9:30 – Gary Karnes from the Monterey Peace Center discusses the Peace Rally against the ongoing war in Afghanistan at Windows on the Bay, Friday October 7 from 4-8pm.  The rally coincides with the 10th anniversary of the US led invasion of Afghanistan.
